Welcome to the site of Hutch, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever

This is the website of the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Hutch.
Hutch is 6 years old and since he was 8 weeks old he lives with me, first in Huizen and today in Soest.
In 2004 the search for an own dog started. Because of my work of animal caretaker, I have seen a lot of different dogbreeds. Every dog had his own caracter, but 1 breed constantly stand up and that was the Toller.
In 2005 I've visit some different breeders and was on a few waiting lists.

At march 2005 we heared from different people there was a male puppy availebale at his breeders in Amsterdam, that was earlyer than we expected. We visit the breeder ánd the litter and at that moment the choice was easy, this was the litter I was looking for. In april 2005 Hutch came to use as puppy of 8 weeks old.

I was looking for a dog that would be active and happy to train and for the different dogsports, at that moment there were no other plans for shows or breeding. But when we heard from different people how beautiful Hutch was, I was getting curious. At 7 months old Hutch participated in his first breedshow of the Dutch Tollerclud, he recieved his first placement and became 3th. From that moment we participated at different (international) breedshows, al of them with excellent result and a many placements in his class.

After the different obedience-classes with good results, the time came for the first dogsports and -competitions. The most important sport for Hutch became the Huntingclasses, he also practice Agility and Obedience with a lot of fun.

In 2007 we started with several huntingtests and from that moment we recieved several nice certificates. The best results are KNJV-B, Workingtest B1 and the participation at B-MAP.
In 2009 we got the first chance to participate at practical huntingdays, we started with ducks and goose. From the first duck he brought in, he was completly in his element and proved to be a real practical huntingdog.
At this moment I don't participate at huntingtests, but we are so luckly that we get quite a few practical hunting days at ducks, goose, hares, phasant, doves, crows and rabbits.

The next step was to get al the healthtest from Hutch, at first for his health in the dogsports, but when al the results were known it appears he was abble to become a studdog.
In 2009 his first litter was born in Germany and in 2010 there was born a litter from him in The Netherlands.
Hutch is a approved studdog for the Dutch Tollerclub, the Dutch Tollerverein and the Deutsche RetrieverClub. He is listed at both Dutch Studdoglist.
